The PorchBoard Bass is designed capable of producing a tone in the 33 - 100 Hz frequency range (very low).   This frequency was selected because it offers a strong supportive bass 'thump' in any key without favoring any particular note.  To achieve this very low end, excellent amplification results can be obtained by using a quality bass amp, keyboard amp, capable PA system, or any amplification system capable of reproducing very low frequencies at adequate levels. This includes a Powered Subwoofer (most commonly used for TV surround systems).

Powered subwoofers are recommended for the PorchBoard Bass because they are designed to reproduce only the low end frequencies. Subwoofers include a self-contained speaker/amplifier configuration in which the characteristics of the amplifier and sub woofer are optimally matched. The PorchBoard Bass does not require batteries or any other external power source and has adequate output to drive most powered subwoofers without the use of a pre-amp.
